Smrt Džordža Flojda inspirisala je građane širom sveta da izađu na ulice i iskažu nezadovoljstvo postojećim sistemom.
Flojd je umro 25. maja, nakon što je policajac Derik Šovin klečao na njegovom vratu više od osam minuta. Ovaj izliv policijske brutalnosti na ulice je prvo izvukao građane Mineapolisa, nakon čega su protesti počeli da se šire na ostale države Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, pa su tako ubrzo usledile masovne demonstracije i okršaji sa policijom na prostoru čitave Amerike. Početkom juna, talas protesta prelio se i na ostale kontinente.

U Belgiji su 1. juna održani protesti, uprkos zabrani usled borbe protiv koronavirusa.
